| The waters around Zanzibar are reckoned to hold some of the best fishing in the world, especially in the Pemba Channel and around Mafia Island. Snorkelling, diving and deep-sea fishing can all be arranged on the island. |  |

There is a special art style on Zanzibar (and the coastal area around Dar) of brightly-coloured, stylised animals and birds called Tinga Tinga. |
| An especially nice thing to do in Stone Town is to have sundowners and dinner at Emerson's and Green (aka New Emerson's). Although it seems unusual, you can book it through your own hotel, who seem to expect it! I won't spoil the surprise by telling you too much about it, but it's a real experience, unlike any other meal I've had, and I don't only mean culinary. While not bottom budget, it won't break the bank, and is excellent value. |
