Lilac-breasted Roller: an attractive member of the crow family, with a dramatic flight and harsh call. < Lilac-breasted Roller is one of the very colourful birds which are easily seen in many areas. It is commonly seen perched on the top of bushes and small trees. The blue flash of its wings when it flies after a passing insect is very dramatic.
Two lions. (21k*)
^ A tender moment between a lioness and a big cub which had been doing 'pouncing practice'.

Hot air balloon over the Mara (6k*) You can go on dawn balloon trips over the Mara. You are picked up from wherever you're staying while it is still dark; you get an hour's balloon trip, then you get a 'champagne bush breakfast' (actually sparkling wine) wherever you land - depending on the winds.
I haven't actually done it - it's very expensive and as far as I can see, the game all runs away from the balloon! Some people have raved about their trip, others have been less enchanted - I suppose, as always, it depends on what you see on your trip!

The view over the Masai Mara from Olkurruk Lodge: 'Miles and miles of bloody Africa'! (18k) This is the stunning view from Olkurruk Lodge at the back of the Mara.
This is where the funeral scene from the film Out of Africa was filmed
(but not where Denys Finch Hatton
was actually buried).
The Lookout Bar over the waterhole at Keekorok Lodge. At Keekorok you can stroll over a short boardwalk and have a drink while you watch wildlife at a small waterhole (26k*)
Keekorok Sunset (13k*) One of the best African sunsets I have seen, with silhouetted Marabou in the trees
