| We have found the best place to see Leopard in Kenya is Samburu/Buffalo Springs. They are fed in the evenings by the lodges, and during the day they are often found lounging in trees in the riverine forest. In July 2000, there were at least two cubs, a few weeks apart in age, in the river/lodges area. One late afternoon we were watching a mother and cub when the mother started calling - at first I thought it was to scare two Egyptian Geese which were nearby, but an adult male appeared, and the three began to play together 'all in a ball'. The textbooks say leopards are solitary animals, so this sort of behaviour cannot be well known. |
