Safari Hints and Tips

I've prepared some safari hints and tips, based on the questions which often come up on rec.travel.africa newsgroup.

What follows is my personal response to some of these questions. Of course, everyone has their own agenda for their safari, so I'm just offering some pointers based on my own type of travel and experiences on safari. It's up to you to work out how much of this is relevant to your needs.

We travel in the mid-range: generally staying at the larger tourist lodges, which are cheaper, though we have stayed at some smaller, more exclusive places when necessary for a particular location.

On our first trip, we travelled on a group tour, the 2-week Leopard safari with Kuoni. Since then we have organised tailor-made trips through Wildlife Journeys and Expeditions, who use Express Travel Group in Kenya and Leopard Tours in Tanzania.)
