African Paradise Flycatcher

Terpsiphone viridis

This is a stunning bird, of the family known as Monarch Flycatchers (monarchidae).
This is a female bird: the males have elongated central retrices (i.e. a much longer tail!) - co-incidentally, the proportion of the male's tail is about the same as this female's tail plus the thorn showing behind the tail in this photo.
As well as this rufous morph, there is a beautiful white morph, which we have only seen at Amboseli.
