Rock Rat, aka Dassie Rat, because of their resemblance to Dassies/Hyraxes. This mammal is in a family of its own. It is interesting because it has 'loose ribs' to enable it to squeeze into the narrowest of crevices. The females have high nipples, almost on their sides, so that they can feed their young in crevices too! |
